Reflexology can be traced as far back as the Egyptians and has since been adapted over the years by many practitioners. In the early 1900’s Dr. William Fitzgerald, an ear, nose and throat surgeon, developed ‘Zone’ therapy. Through experimentation he discovered that pressure applied to one part of the body could provide anesthesia on another part of the body removed from the pressure site. but within the same zone".In the 1930's Eunice Ingham further developed this work and created the "map of the body " on the feet. She discovered that congestion in the reflex points of the feet mirrored tension in the corresponding area of the body.
